About Hale Farm & Village

Originally purchased in 1810 by Jonathan Hale, the Hale Farm passed three generations until is was bequested in 1956 to Western Reserve Historical Society “to be established as a museum so that the greatest number of persons might learn about the history and culture of the Western Reserve.”

Today Hale Farm and Village consists of 32 historic buildings. Period crafts are made on the premises, with skilled artisans demonstrating glassblowing, potting, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, and candlemaking. Farm animals are in residence as well, including working oxen, sheep and chickens. Hale Farm also presents 1860s Civil War history in our beautiful Village. Each building welcomes you to catch a glimpse of life in the 1860s and shares its past with you first hand.
