Hands ON! Filmmaking for Families Event Series
In conjunction with our Hollywood on the Cuyahoga exhibit, join us for a series of programs about the tricks and tools of filmmaking. These programs are hands-on and meant for all ages. Designed for ages 5–105, these open-house programs encourage hands-on experimentation and playful creativity, giving participants a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the art of filmmaking.
Foley Effects: Create the Sounds of Film

Description:
Step into the world of sound in filmmaking! Families will experiment with foley techniques to create their own sound effects—everything from footsteps to creaking doors to cartoonish boings. Tap, shake, scrape, and layer everyday objects to hear how sounds transform a scene, then watch (and listen!) as your creations sync with short film clips. Drop in anytime to play and explore.

Set Design Fun for Families

Step into the shoes of a filmmaker and create your own movie world! Families will experiment with props, and see how small details can completely transform a scene. Drop in anytime to play and explore. Perfect for ages 5–105, this interactive workshop celebrates creativity, imagination, and the magic of storytelling through set design.
