Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) recognizes and respects the privacy of its online visitors and donors and is committed to protecting the privacy of the users of the WRHS website.

This privacy policy applies to www.wrhs.org and www.halefarm.org, collectively referred to herein as “the website.” This privacy policy does not apply to information you may send to WRHS by email or by other means of communication. Reasons WRHS Collects Information on the Website:

There are a number of places on the website where it may be necessary to collect information from the visitor in order to provide additional requested services. These currently include the following areas:

How WRHS uses information you (the visitor) supply

WRHS recognizes and respects the visitor’s right to privacy. WRHS will never sell nor exchange your personal information to/with any other organization, individual or entity. WRHS will use your personal information to process and respond to inquiries and for the purposes for which you provided the information.

With regard to online purchases of tickets and items from the WRHS online store, personal information will only be retained to fulfill orders and facilitate service. This includes the ability to track when WRHS materials damaged or missing. If a visitor indicates that they are willing to be informed of products and promotional offers, their email address will be retained.

With regard to donations or the purchase of a membership online, information is collected that is necessary to process the request and includes the following: name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card number. Information is retained to facilitate service to inform the donor/member of special information specifically for them.

With regard to reservations, information is collected that is necessary to process the request, including name and email address. Personal information will be retained to facilitate service and to inform the visitor of special information via email.

With regard to email updates, information is collected that is necessary to process the request, including name, and email address.

With regard to registration on the online WRHS catalog, personal information is collected to analyze use of WRHS collections in order to improve development of, and access to, the WRHS collections; and to account for damaged or missing materials from WRHS collections. This personal information includes the following: name, address, telephone number, email address, affiliation, research area of interest, and membership status.

With regard to application to volunteer with WRHS, personal information is collected that is necessary to process the request and includes the following: name, address, telephone number, and email address. Personal information will be retained to properly administer the volunteer program and communicate with volunteers.

WRHS may also use your personal information for security purposes, or to enforce the WRHS website Terms of Use.

WRHS may share your personal identification with third parties under the following specific circumstances:
• To comply with a valid legal process such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute or court order.
• If WRHS determines an online visitor has violated the Terms of Use of the WRHS Website.
