Glass Blowing Workshops – ALL GLASS BLOWING WORKSHOPS ARE NOW FULL

View a close-up demonstration of blown glass by the Hale Farm Glassblower. Then, through a guided experience, turn ordinary minerals into your own piece of beautiful art glass.

The Hives at Hale Farm: Is Beekeeping for You?

Fee: $20

Have you ever considered beekeeping? This is a craft that is exceedingly popular; however, beekeeping is taking care of livestock. Sign up for this one and one-half hour class where we will introduce you to the hives at Hale Farm & Village and give you detailed information on the time and money commitments involved. This is your chance to determine if you’ve got the buzz! If not, that’s ok – there are plenty of other, even more important ways to help bees that we’ll tell you about.

Attendees are advised to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants, with high socks so as the pant legs can be tucked into the socks. Veils and gloves will be provided, but attendees must wear a wide-brimmed hat.  Presented by the beekeepers of Urban Honey Bee

Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom

Rigid heddle looms are affordable and portable ways to begin your weaving journey, and can be used to make small pieces like runners and scarves, or fabric for blankets or bags. Come to see the creative potential of small loom weaving!

Broom Workshop

Join out artisan broom maker in the shop to create an heirloom for your home or hearth! Shape a maple handle, attach broom corn and apply a decorative weave for your own broom. No previous skills required. Spaces are limited. Make your reservation today.

Great Wheel Spinning

Great Wheel, Wool Wheel, Walking Wheel – three names for one workhorse of a spinning wheel that was a constant companion to women of the early 19th century. Curious about how they work? Come to learn a new art or take your spinning to a new level.

Begin to Spin: Spindle Spinning Lessons

Create unique yarn for knitting, crocheting or weaving, using techniques that have been around for thousands of years. Spindle spinning is portable and surprisingly fast! Bring your own spindle, borrow one of ours, or purchase our spindle kit.
