Annual Fund FAQ

Q. What does the WRHS Annual Fund support?
A. Gifts to the WRHS Annual Fund support day-to-day operations as well as programs, exhibits and facilities that are not funded through special grants from foundations, corporations and individuals. Tax-deductible gifts to the WRHS Annual Fund allow us to fulfill our mission to inspire people to discover the American experience by exploring the tangible history of Northeast Ohio.

Q.
Who supports the Annual Fund?
A. The WRHS Board of Directors kicks off the campaign each year with generous leadership gifts. We also receive Annual Fund gifts from hundreds of Northeast Ohio households, just like yours, as well as from folks from across the nation and overseas who were born and raised here, but moved away.

Q. Why aren’t admissions and program fees enough to cover the full cost of WRHS operations?
A. WRHS is committed to providing the highest quality experience for our guests at a reasonable rate. Without Annual Fund support, we would need to raise our fees; thus fewer people would visit us or participate in engaging life-long learning opportunities. Your support is truly a gift to the community.

Q. Why should I consider making a gift to the Western Reserve Historical Society Annual Fund?
A. Our museums, collections, and archives not only celebrate our heritage; they also help inform and shape present and future decisions. We are a leader and advocate for economic development in a community whose arts and cultural organizations provide more than $1 billion of economic impact to Northeast Ohio each year. Our recent achievements include paying off debt, balancing our operating budget, securing new endowments and right-sizing our organization in order to operate within our means without sacrificing service to our community. You want to support a leader!

Q. Can I fund a special project?
A. Absolutely! While we prefer unrestricted operating donations though our Annual Fund, we want you to feel perfectly comfortable with your gift.
