Si Jolie! French Fashion in Cleveland is about French fashion and all of the stories in between. It highlights how Paris fashion motivated some Clevelanders to travel abroad, influenced local fashion, inspired the golden age of department stores, and how significant fashion was socially. This exhibit will take you back in time to experience how fashion and travel have evolved over time.
Modest in appearance on the exterior, there are 17 rooms inside, including the original cellar kitchen with cooking fireplace, bake oven, and a splendid banquet room with coved ceiling and early nineteenth century scenic French wallpaper. Our Shandy Hall Virtual Tour will walk you through the fully decorated rooms of Shandy Hall, and shed some light on its fascinating history!
Presented by PNC and WRHS in collaboration with the League of Women Voters of Greater Cleveland, Women and Politics is a virtual exhibit that traces the story of women’s empowerment, explores the early days of the suffragist movement, examines the successful fight for the 19th Amendment, and celebrates the birth and growth of the League of Women Voters as a force for clean government and the election of northern Ohio women to positions of power.
Failure is Impossible is a film about the history of women’s suffrage, a Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) and TELOS production.
“Failure is Impossible” accompanies the virtual exhibit, Women and Politics | Empowered to Vote, Empowered to Lead, sponsored by PNC. The film profiles past and present heroes of Women’s Rights and is designed to be an informative aspirational message to the next generation of Women’s Rights warriors.
Western Reserve Historical Society continues to build our virtual presence by bringing relevant stories and history to your home. Check out our newest online exhibit Celebrate Those Who Give Black. This Exhibition is designed to tell the rich history of African-American charitable giving, and the story of Black philanthropy in Cleveland by honoring the past, celebrating the present and inspiring the future.
