Doors open at 5:00pm, with the storytelling beginning promptly at 7:00pm
Cleveland Car Show – Cleveland Stories takes a jump into the automotive world with the help of the Cleveland History Center. Ed Pershey is joined by classic autos (which will be displayed in our parking lot weather permitting) and tells the story of Cleveland’s history with the automakers. If you’re a car enthusiast or just a history buff, you’ll want to attend this one!
Dr. Ed Pershey is Director of Special Projects at the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio. Pershey joined WRHS in 1995. Over his 20+ years at WRHS, he has developed over a dozen exhibits, obtained NEH grants for summer workshops and for exhibit development, and developed collections for the institution. Pershey has been involved with the Crawford Auto and Aviation collection at WRHS right from his start at WRHS in 1995. He led the staff team who developed the exhibits for upper and lower levels of the auto and aviation collections, including the current exhibits that were installed in 2012-2014. In 2003, with money available through the State of Ohio’s Bicentennial celebration, he organized a six-day tour of Ohio of five historic Cleveland-built cars from the Crawford collection. In 1982 he received his doctorate in the History of Technology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
