Join author Scott Longert as he discusses his newest book, Victory on Two Fronts: The Cleveland Indians and Baseball Through the WWII EraVictory on Two Fronts is the story of the Cleveland Indians and baseball in the World War II years and through the 1948 pennant winning season. The presentation includes profiles of prominent Cleveland baseball people such as Bob Feller, Lou Boudreau, Larry Doby and Bill Veeck. The effect of the war on Major League baseball is discussed here.

Scott Longert is the author of Victory on Two Fronts (Ohio University Press), Bad Boys, Bad Times, the Cleveland Indians and Baseball in the Pre War Years 1937-1941, (Ohio University Press), No Money, No Beer, No Pennants: The Cleveland Indians and Baseball in the Great Depression (Ohio University Press) published September 2016, Addie Joss: King of the Pitchers June 2016 and The Best They Could Be: The Cleveland Indians 1916-1920 (Potomac Books). Scott’s children’s book, Cy Young: An American Baseball Hero (Ohio University Press) was  released in the Spring  of 2020 (Ohio University Press).

Scott has written articles for the National Pastime, the Baseball Research Journal, Timeline, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer Sunday Magazine. He is a voting member for the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame.

He has appeared on WKYC –TV with Jim Donovan, More Sports & Les Levine Time-Warner Cable, WCPN Radio, and radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. Scott does numerous presentations at libraries and book clubs in Cuyahoga County and throughout Ohio.

Scott has his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University and his master’s degree in American History (Post- Civil War) from Cleveland State University. He is retired from the National Park Service. Scott lives in Beachwood, OH with his wife Vicki.
