Buona Festa: Religious Meaning and Cultural History of The Feast of the Assumption in Cleveland’s Little Italy

August 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free
DATE: Wednesday, August 26, 2020, 6:00-7:00pm

Since 1898, The Feast of the Assumption has been a significant religious and cultural event in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood. WRHS has partnered with Holy Rosary Church and the Little Italy Redevelopment Corporation to bring you this one-hour virtual program that will explore the Catholic Holy Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Observed annually on August 15, this event has become a long-standing tradition in Cleveland for not only Italian Americans and Catholics, but for the larger community of Northeast Ohio.
Discussions will focus on the religious devotions of the Feast of the Assumption and its role in preserving and perpetuating Italian American culture in the region. This event is FREE to participate, but registration is required. Please also consider making a donation to support this event as well as future programming by CLICKING HERE.
