Region 3 Ohio History Day asks students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 to conduct research based on a yearly theme and create an original project as a paper, an exhibit, a performance, a website, or a digital documentary. The Region 3 competition is open to students from Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, and Summit counties; it is held at the Cleveland History Center of the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Case Western Reserve University campus. Region 3 Winners go on to Ohio History Day, the state competition near Columbus. State winners may qualify for the National History Day contest in Maryland.
Between 9:15am and 12:15pm, students participate in their first round of judging. Judging for papers, websites, and exhibits is held at the Cleveland History Center and is closed to the public. Judging for documentaries and performances is held at the CWRU School of Law and is open to the public. Between 1pm and 2pm, there may be another round of run-off judging, and only documentary and performance run-offs, also held at the CWRU School of Law, will be open to the public.
The Awards Ceremony begins at 3pm at the Maltz Performing Arts Center.
