History on Tap | Haunted History
Join the Cleveland History Center for a Halloween happy hour at History on Tap | Haunted History! Delve into the dark side of Cleveland’s history as you make your way through our historic Hay-McKinney Mansion, where you’ll meet some of the most notorious figures from our city’s past. Then, explore a selection of the strangest and spookiest items from the WRHS collection in a special pop-up exhibit, Oddities from the Archives. Be sure to come in costume and enjoy our Halloween-themed photo ops! A cash bar will be available with light snacks for purchase.
In addition to these offerings, we are proud to partner with The New Moon – a witch store and more located in Lakewood, Ohio – to bring tarot card readings to our guests. Readings will be provided by:
- Dawn Bartos, owner of The New Moon, a solitary, eclectic, energy working witch that reads tarot cards, receives and gives spirit message readings for emotional healing, is a psychic medium, and candle soot reader.
- Melissa Dean-Pardo, 1st degree initiate of the Cabot Tradition of Witchcraft based in Salem, MA, and practicing tarot card reader for 25 years.
- Madison O’Reilly, an experienced tarot card reader who is able to detect attachments on people and zone in on energy disruptions to guide others on their path in their daily life and connect intuitively with their needs.
- Marleigh McVeigh, a clairvoyant medium that reads tarot and runes and enjoys focusing on clarification so that clients can move forward within their lives.
Please Note: Tarot card readings are offered at a rate of $25 per reading (cash only). Signups are required, and readings will be administered on a first come, first served basis.

Ghosts of Christmas Past Candlelight Tour Dates: November 29 and 30; December 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, and 22.
It’s 1915, and mysterious happenings have driven away the Blackwood family’s household staff, just in time for the holiday season. After answering a job advertisement, tour participants will arrive at the Blackwood mansion, a sprawling estate recently built by a wealthy industrialist in Cleveland’s fashionable Wade Allotment. Greeted by the few staff members who remain in the home, they wind their way through the mansion’s dark halls to get the lay of the land but soon find that something is amiss. Unexplained noises, footsteps in empty corridors, and strange sightings – are they all coincidence, or is there some truth to the old yuletide superstitions after all? True stories from Cleveland’s past help weave together this holiday mystery.
Tours depart every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30pm and will last approximately 45 minutes. The final tour of the evening will depart at 8:00pm.
Reservations Required | To register, please call 216-721-5722 x1003 or email tickets@wrhs.org.
