Frank Drury: The Perfection Stove Co. & Millionaires Row
Presentation by Dan Ruminski about Frank Drury whose company, The Perfection Stove Co., was marketed by Standard Oil in an initiative to increase its sales of kerosene.  His resulting fortune built a house on Millionaires Row and supported many of Cleveland's cultural institutions including the Cleveland Playhouse, the Music School Settlement, and the Cleveland Orchestra.  Free with paid admission and free for members.

Treasure Trove of Cleveland History: Events in Cleveland
In a series of four classes, enjoy hands-on presentations of major events in Cleveland's history from the National Air Races and the 1936 Great Lakes Exposition, to disasters like the East Ohio Gas Co. explosion.  Short presentations from the Library and Education staff are followed by hands-on viewing of library and museum resources.  Program is part of the Tri-C Neighborhood Scholars Program.  To register, please call Tri-C at 216-987-3075.  Fee is $48.

The Story of Hopkins Airport

The history of Hopkins, from its opening in 1925 as the world's largest airport to its growth and transformation to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.  Presented by Dr. Edward J. Pershey, WRHS VP for Special Projects and Exhibits.
 
 
  
Summer 2010: An Earthly Odyssey, Circle Sampler Camp 
This is a unique camp experience hosted by The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Campers will explore the wonders of University Circle at nine of Cleveland’s premier institutions in a week of scientific, artistic, musical, theatrical and cultural explorations. This all-day program taps into the many fun, educational resources of University Circle to enrich your child’s understanding of the world. Campers will observe, interact with and explore nature and culture as they learn about all that the area has to offer. Campers are supervised at all times and are escorted to sites either on foot or via University Circle, Inc. buses. At lunchtime, campers provide their own brown-bag lunches and enjoy a recreational activity. Snacks are provided. Drop off and pick up are at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
Your child will have lots of fun attending 2010: An Earthly Odyssey this summer at the Circle Sampler Camp.

Grades 1-3
Session I: June 14 to 18
Session II: June 21 to 25

Grades 4-6
Session III: July 12 to 16
Session IV: July 19 to 23

All sessions run Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Cost: $230 per session for general public; $208 for members of any participating institution.
