The Western Reserve Historical Society is delighted to present Short & Sweet: Two Centuries of American Childhood, open now through November 2008! This exhibition is on display in the Chisholm Halle Costume Wing at the Society's University Circle location.

Short & Sweet features a variety of costumes, toys, fine art, furniture, and photographs from the Society's collections, which address America's evolving attitude toward children from 1740-1960. The influence of literary depictions of children on clothing and artistic portrayals of them will be shown alongside the clothing influenced by art. The exhibit focuses on a variety of activities, including:

  • children's dress
  • playtime
  • organized recreation
  • education
  • and spiritual upbringing

The Western Reserve Historical Society is located at 10825 East Blvd. in University Circle, and features the Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, the History Museum, Genealogy Library and Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum.
