“Jewish Heritage in Central & Eastern Europe" Tour



The Cleveland Jewish Archives of The Western Reserve Historical Society, in cooperation with Kollander Travel, will host a cultural tour entitled “Jewish Heritage in Central & Eastern Europe,” September 5 – 18, 2008.

The “Jewish Heritage in Central & Eastern Europe,” tour will transport participants from Cleveland to , and . Travelers can explore the areas of Central and Eastern Europe that were home to many Jewish families before the Holocaust, and learn how many of the Jewish faith emigrated over the decades and found their way to Cleveland and the Western Reserve region.

Experienced tour guides will lead the way through a variety of important sites in Warsaw and Krakow, ; L’viv, ; and Budapest, .  The cultural tour will also visit some of the sites where Jews perished during the Holocaust, including: Treblinka, Majdanek, and Auschwitz .

The Cleveland Jewish Archives will host a preview event on Thursday, March 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Hassler Room of the Library at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Attendees will have a chance to learn more about the trip and about how they can use the Jewish Archives and the Library to learn more about their ancestors.
