About the Guide

This guide provides a brief bibliographic description for the manuscript, photograph, microfilm, and newspaper collections of the African American Archives to date in the Archives/Library of the Western Reserve Historical Society. The collections are specific to the African American experience and cover a wide range of topics and categories of primary importance to the body of Black history. The purpose of the bibliographic listing is to assist researchers in locating materials, provide a ready reference aid for archives staff, and document the life, culture and experiences of African Americans in Ohio's Western Reserve.
