“Building America’s Canals”…blends history, math and science content standards through contextualized hands-on activities that place the visitor in the role of the canal engineer.  Each activity station features interpretive graphics that provide historical information about canal engineering. 
IN THE EXHIBIT
DISCOVER the most efficient route for your canal.  Only the best can call themselves master canal engineers!
BUILD an aqueduct supported by a masonry arch.
LEARN how to build and operate a lock.  Find out what the dynamite is for.
EXPLORE the science behind suspension bridges.
EXPERIMENT with different types of cranes or make your own.
