Recent Acquisitions

Have a look at some of the Crawford's most recent acquisitions!

The Crawford Auto Aviation Museum is pleased to announce our latest acquisitions to our collection. In recent months the Crawford Museum has acquired six great additions that you must see! Currently on display, these new collection pieces are unique and definitely one of a kind.

Chrysler has donated three concept cars: the PT Cruiser Coupe, the Dodge Avenger and the Jeep Compass. The PT Cruiser Coupe is the only one of its kind, never going into full production.   The Coupe is fully functioning with a turbo charged engine and state of the art sound system. The Dodge Avenger prototype has a 3.5 liter V6 engine, all wheel drive powertrain and is rally inspired.   The two door Jeep Compass Concept features a 3.7 liter V6 engine, all wheel drive, P235/55R20 tires mounted on specially designed custom wheels, Gortex and leather seats and a GPS.

In March, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum inducted “Dexter” from Case Western Reserve University. Dexter showcases CWRU student and faculty engineering expertise with artificial intelligence and robotic controls to navigate streets…driverless.   Dexter is designed to perform real-time street navigation, obey the rules of the road and avoid collisions with other vehicles. Dexter is a 3,200 pound vehicle also designed for racing.   Sensors include digital cameras, laser range finders, radar, GPS receivers and a high precision gyroscope.   All of the sensors combine to give 360 degree awareness.

Mr. S. Sterling McMillan III has donated a benchmark designed automobile, a 1940 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet. It is one of only 350 ever built. It also has the original twelve cylinder engine.

Gabriele Reddin has donated a 1915 Franklin Roadster. The Franklin was purchased by her husband’s Grandfather, from Findley, Ohio, new 93 years ago! Totally un-restored, it runs beautifully.   It has a four liter air-cooled engine.   Much of the engine, transmission case, rear end housing and body are made out of aluminum.   The frame is seasoned ash.   Franklins of this type were known to average over thirty miles per gallon of gasoline.
