The parlor, off the front hall, is where important guests were entertained during the presidential campaign; even former President U.S. Grant visited here.

A peek into the parlor shows us a portrait of the President's aged mother hanging in an honored spot near the fireplace, and daughter Mollie's piano at the west end. We can imagine a cheerful fire and the family gathered around the fireplace, or the busy comings and goings of important political friends of the candidate.

A golden daisy patterned paper adorns the walls and is accented by a rich floral border under the moulding. The ceiling paper reflects the style of the daisies, with a white pinwheel and gold dot pattern.
