Hale Farm & Village glassblowers interpret the history of hand-blown glass in the Western Reserve from the 1820s and 1830s. In the Glassworks, schoolchildren and general audiences learn about centuries old hand-blown glass techniques, see the colors, feel the heat and find out about the production of hand-blown glass with this one-of-a-kind opportunity in our region. The Hale Farm & Village Glassworks has been a visitor favorite at the museum for more than 30 years. Museum reproduction pieces are based on artifacts in our collection. We recreate museum reproduction items using the same methods of production: carefully, by hand, one at a time.
With support from the community, Hale Farm & Village recently completed a restoration of the popular glassworks. Funding from the Lehner Family Foundation, OMNOVA Solutions Foundation, The Mary S. and David C. Corbin Foundation, The Sisler McFawn Foundation, and others have enabled Hale Farm & Village to completely replace the glass furnace and repair and upgrade two annealing ovens.
