Kidzibits Family Education Center

History Center in University Circle

The Kidzibits Family Education Center at Western Reserve Historical Society inspires our young visitors, from pre-school through age 9, to explore and experience history. Adults will find something for them as well – so bring the whole family! Entry to Kidzibits is included with general museum admission (which is always FREE for WRHS members!).

Kidzibits' Time and Space Place - for ages 6 to 9

Time and Place Space delves into activities to discover how our clothes, cooking, travel and more have changed over time. Kids can cook over a fire, hearth, range, and microwave oven. They can explore traveling via horse, carriage, car, and plane. They can also feel the changes in fabrics from long ago to today. All activities encourage intergenerational conversations about the past and how it shapes the future.

“History is fun when offered to children in age-appropriate ways,” says WRHS Vice President for Education Janice Ziegler. “It’s something that you can be learning your whole life if given the opportunities. The Kidzibits Family Education Center offers our youngest learners a basic introduction to what life was like in the past, especially right here in our own community. It is the opportunity for youngsters and their adults to begin communicating about family memories, to share stories and pass along family heritage,” says Ziegler.

In the Backyard of History - for preschoolers

In the Backyard of History, children can dress in historic clothes, do a little shopping at our recreated West Side market, or build Cleveland's skyline. They can also learn how to create a family tree, give puppet shows and play with old-fashioned toys. In the Crawford Kidzibits, test out the hottest selling foot-powered car in America the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe.

Join us on Wednesdays at 1:00 for Preschool Storytime.
This one-hour program for children includes a craft activity and is located in the Kidzibits Family Education Center. The program is free with paid admission and no reservations are necessary.

Kidzibits Family Education Center is open during regular WRHS History Center hours.
